Quick and Easy Home Updates for the Busy Mom

As a busy mom, I’m always trying to balance taking care of the kids, keeping the house in order, and managing work.

But, like most of us, I also want my home to feel cosy and look nice. Over time, I’ve learned that it’s possible to give my home a fresh look without adding stress.

Here are some simple updates I’ve tried that made a big difference.

1. Clear Out Clutter

One of the first things I do when I feel my home needs a refresher is to clear out the clutter.

It’s amazing how getting rid of old toys, papers, and other things we don’t need can make a room feel new again.

I start by tackling one room at a time, focusing on spots that tend to get messy, like the kitchen counter or the kids’ play area.

Once everything is in its place, the house feels more open and calm.

2. Add Some Colour with Pillows and Rugs

Another easy way I update my home is by adding some colour.

I’ve found that changing out throw pillows or adding a new rug can completely change how a room looks.

It’s a quick update that doesn’t take much time or effort. Plus, I can easily switch things up depending on the season or how I’m feeling.

For example, I might use bright, flowery pillows in the spring and switch to warm, cosy tones in the fall.

3. Change the Curtains

Changing the curtains is another simple update that makes a big difference.

Just like with throw pillows, new curtains can give a room a whole new look.

I usually choose light, airy curtains for the warmer months and heavier ones for when it’s cold. It only takes a few minutes to hang them, but the room feels refreshed right away.

4. Update the Lighting

Lighting is another area where I’ve made quick changes that really make a difference.

A new lamp in the living room or a stylish light fixture in the kitchen can change how a space feels.

I also love using smart bulbs that let me adjust the brightness and colour. It’s a small update, but it makes a big impact.

5. Refresh the Walls

While I enjoy doing things myself, there was one update where I needed help: refreshing the walls.

I wanted to do something special, and after looking around, I loved the idea of polished plaster walls.

But I knew this was more than I could handle on my own, so I hired professionals from Evoke Polished Plastering. They did an amazing job, making my walls look smooth and elegant. It was stress-free since they did all the work, and the result was better than I could have done myself.

6. Add Some Plants

Lastly, I like to add a few plants around the house. Even just a small plant on the windowsill or a bigger one in the living room can bring life to a space.

Plants also help clean the air and make the house feel more peaceful, which is always a good thing.

Key Takeaways

Updating your home doesn’t have to be hard or stressful.

As a busy mom, I’ve found that small, simple changes can make a big difference in how my home feels. It’s all about creating a space that’s cosy, stylish, and easy to enjoy.
